How we source, date and correct our pages

Every fact about an exam on this site links to its source, with the date we read it. Pages show when they last changed, secondary sources are labelled as such, and you can report a mistake from any page or question.

Which sources do we use?

For the rules, formats, fees and dates of an exam we start with the exam body’s own pages: the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) for SQE1, CFA Institute for the CFA® Program and the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) for the FRM® Exam. For subject matter we cite the law itself (statutes, judgments, regulators’ rules), public bodies such as central banks and supervisors, and academic publications.

Each guide lists its sources at the end with the publisher, the title, the date the source shows and the date we read it. Short citations in the text link straight to the source.

When do we use secondary sources?

When an exam body’s page cannot be read or does not give the detail, we may use a dated secondary source, such as a summary by a training provider, a university or a specialist website. It is always labelled “secondary source” in the citation and in the source list, so you can tell it apart from the exam body’s own page.

How do we handle fees and dates?

Fees, exam windows and deadlines change every year. We give each figure with its source and what it applies to (for example “exams from February 2027”), and next to a fee or date we link to the exam body’s own page. Where it says “check the official website”, confirm the figure there before you book or pay.

We revisit these figures when the exam bodies usually publish new ones: new fee years, new exam windows, results and changes to the exam format.

What do the dates on a page mean?

  • Published and Updated at the top of a page: when it first appeared and when its content last changed. A new date means a real change, not a new build.
  • Accessed in a source list: the day we read that source.
  • The SQE1 course page states the date of the law the questions reflect.

How do the tools work?

Each tool explains its calculation with the formula and a worked example, says what it includes and leaves out, and lists its sources. The default result is part of the page; when you change the inputs, the calculation runs in your browser and nothing is stored.

How do we correct mistakes?

Spotted a problem? Report it from any question. For a guide, a tool or any other page, use the contact form and tell us the page and what looks wrong. We correct the page and change its “Updated” date. If an exam body changes a rule, fee or date, we update the pages that quote it.

What do we not publish?

  • No pass rates or results of our own users, no testimonials and no user numbers.
  • No claims to know real exam questions, and no questions or sample questions of the exam bodies.
  • No learning outcome statements or learning objectives of CFA Institute or GARP.
  • No promises about passing. Our pages are study material, not legal, financial or careers advice.

We are independent of the exam bodies; see About for the full statements.

Choose which optional tools we may use. We store your choice in your browser for 12 months (local storage, “hp.consent”). Details: privacy policy.
